Life jackets are an essential part of any watercraft when it comes to safety measures. When things go wrong they can be the single difference between living and dying. But how often do you actually inspect and update your life jackets? The U.S. Coast Guard has issued a safety alert this week urging everyone to increase the frequency of PFD inspections because a faulty vest is not an option in the event of an emergency. Life jackets age and deteriorate just like anything else and you need to be sure that when you head out on the water there is no chance of a malfunction.
