Largest Cargo Vessel to Arrive in U.S. Docks in Seattle
The largest cargo ship to ever reach American shores just docked in Seattle, WA. The Benjamin Franklin is simply a monster. Check out her specs below!
Vessel Benjamin Franklin 1,310 feet
Carries 18,000 cargo containers (almost double the standard 10,000 on most ships)
200 feet tall
At 1,310 feet, the Benjamin Franklin is longer than the height of the Empire State Building, not including it’s antenna spire.

(Update: $24 Million Estimated Damages) 350+ Boats Destroyed In Portland Dry Dock Fire
A four alarm fire in a Portland dry dock destroyed hundreds of boats last night. Portland Fire and Rescue stated that over 350 boats were inside the dry dock when the entire building became engulfed in a fireball. Due to the small size of the marina and the island, the water supply was insufficient to efficiently fight the fire. The owner was only able to save various files and records from the office. Over 100 fire personnel were called to the fire and the building is still smoldering this morning. Unfortunately the total losses are still unknown but the estimated dollar amount is said to exceed $24 million. (Video Cred: Desmond Moore)
