New Title Sponsor for the Desert Storm Poker Run
The largest performance boating event in the western United States will boil the waters of Lake Havasu for the 16th time April 26-30, 2016. This prestigious event is produced by Desert Storms’ founder; Jim Nichols of Lake Racer LLC in partnership with Jim Russell of Havasu based DSM Events LLC.
The 2016 “Spectre Powerboats Desert Storm & Power in the Park Presented by Shugrues” Performance Boat Event is bigger than ever before. With a new Title Sponsor, Spectre Powerboats, plus continued major support of Shugrues Family of Fine Restaurants and the Lake Havasu City Convention and Visitors Bureau, they have put together a wonderful event for the participants and spectators.
These major sponsors, plus the ongoing support of so many in the marine industry and local community is allowing the continued growth of the event by enabling Nichols and Russell to expand the activities that have made it the crown jewel of the west coast performance boating sport. It is launched with charity boat rides, a welcome party and charity auction, then the best performance boat street party in the nation. Followed by the huge poker run, enriched this year with an off the chart two day beach party, “Power in the Park Festival”, open to the public. The PITP Festival will extend the street party as vendors and displays can move to Rotary Park for Friday and Saturday and include GN Boat Races, JetSki Freestyle Exhibitions, Classic Car Burnout Contest, and live music. Finally the shootout with record setting high speed runs, and wrapped up with a unique banquet – awards and prize ceremony at the continuing PITP Festival. It attracts the very coolest of the super boats in the country to the desert oasis of Lake Havasu. There locals mingle with the elite of the high speed luxury boat crowd for a weekend packed with the very best of everything in the performance boating industry.
