TICKFAW 200 PHOTO GALLERIES ONE AND TWO

We got so many photos from the 2016 Tickfaw 200, we had to create another gallery for all of them. Missed the first gallery. CLICK HERE to see it!

The 2016 Tickfaw 200 Poker Run was huge, over 400 boats, over 400 poker hands sold, perfect weather, perfect water, great food, great bands, beautiful girls,  great hospitality, and incredibly fun running over 200 miles back and forth across the protected water in and around Lake Pontchartrain.

I arrived at the run early to conduct a Performance Boat School which was great, I talked to event organizers Joey Fontenot and Casey Harrison for quite awhile and offered to help, doing whatever we could to make the run and event bigger and better.  Lets face it the Tickfaw 200 is so good and so unique in so many ways it is hard to do anything but just show up.  On Wednesday night not known to Joey,  Casey sneaked in a live band to get things started early.  The bar wasn’t open to sell anything but it didn’t matter because everyone showed up at the fun house and, well…..had fun.  Thursday we ran around the water for while and the card stops were open early making it a great day.  Friday was our Powerboat Nation Party at Sun Buns and it was recorded as the busiest day in the history of SunBuns with so many boats and people it was just simply jammed.

Thursday night the Fun House was so busy you could barely walk through.  EVERYONE was there and it happened all over again Friday Night and Saturday Night with the “FUNNESS” lingering around through Sunday as the last stragglers reluctantly took their time loading up to leave.

tickfawAfter the Crowning of the Tickfaw 200 King and Queen A.J. Phillip  and Jessica Whittich I sneaked over to the food tent to grab some late night Jambalaya and Crawfish.  This incredible feast was all being sold to raise money for local charities run by Livingston Parish Sheriff Jason Ard.   Sitting there enjoying some alone time  I was graced with the presence of Mr. Joey Fontenot who brought over another large plate of crawfish (the best ever BTW).  Joey asked me what I thought about his little poker run and I went on to tell him………again……. how great, the best, incredible everything was, all the accolades and I asked him again what I could to do help, because I really, really, want to help where I can.

Now when you really think about the power and reach of Powerboat Nation which is now in the multi millions of readers every week we can make some noise about things,  Joey told me about the size of the event, the limitations on infrastructure, and just how much work it was and how I really needed to maybe not tell everyone the entire, enthusiastic  truth about how great Tickfaw 200 is.

Hmmmm, help by not promoting and telling the truth,  now I had dilemma… I have to tell the truth but I want to help my friends…  I had to leave Tickfaw early to get on a plane for a job in Europe.  While driving out from Mak’em Wet Marina where I noticed there was room for many more boats, buses, trailers, etc, I passed another big open field and then came to the boat ramp by the bridge where both sides of the road were overflowing with trucks, trailers, cars and people and a little further down the road by the blood river landing there was room for more trucks, trailers, and boats and even a little further I saw some more room.

While driving to the airport I solved my problem.  I will keep my word to Joey, if anyone asks if they should go to the Tickfaw 200 I will tell them no way and then tell them why I have to tell them not to go.  The Tickfaw 200 is just too damn good, so good in fact you may not be ready for it, go to some other runs around the country and work your way up because lets face it…  It is the STURGIS of Powerboat Poker Runs and you may just not be ready.

This week the power boating world has all eyes on Southern Louisiana for the Tickfaw 200 Poker Run!  A couple hundred boats are expected to return to experience the unique and unrivaled hospitality at BloodRiver Landing and the great hosts Casey Harrision and Joey Fontenot.

The Tickfaw 200 provides an opportunity to run over 200 miles on a Poker Run that has some of the most unique water to run from small winding rivers to the open water or Lake Pontchartrain and along the way card stops that bring to life the sights, sounds, and flavors of New Orleans and South Louisiana.

For 10 years the Team from Legend Marine Group in Carrollton, TX has been participating in this run. For the last 5 years, they have been a major sponsor.  Legend’s General Manager, Casey Freeman, said the Tickfaw 200 is one of the best events of the year and it keeps getting bigger and better. The hospitality provided by Joey & Casey is bar-none the best of any run.  Legend Marine Group would like to give a Big Texas Thank You to all of the people who help make the Tickfaw 200 Happen.  Look for Legend Marine Group Riding in style this year in a 2015 Cigarette 41SD .

After the Miami Boats Show’s premier reveal of one of the industries most followed and reported on new boating projects, the Platinum Series of the new 388 Skater is on the water and showing strong results. The first version belongs to the man behind the inspiration, Bill Pyburn Jr., whose Skater has recently been seen on the water at Poker Runs around the country.

The result of the finished Platinum series boats are truly breathtaking from a enthusiast point a view. For ages boat interiors have looked as if they were designed to fit around the sharp edges and square angles that make up a boat’s hull. With a desire to bring the same luxury and refinement you’d seek in a modern high end super car, the interior of these boats started with with the endorsement of Peter Hledin. His expertise was able to accommodate the numerous changes and interior panels required to develop a super luxury style contoured interior.

At last, the interior of these boats matches the incredibly aggressive look of the new cutdown (lowered) deck on the 388 Platinum. These boats were not just designed to be another pretty face – there were hours and hours of design augmentations that took into consideration not only the airflow over the hull, but the effect on the passengers and their comfort level.

All of this was built with the thought in mind that the boats would be filled with the most exotic high horsepower engines available anywhere from Goodwin Competition. This makes this boat perform like no other catamaran in its size and class. The balance of the boat is incredible and it handles, turns, accelerates, and simply runs like no other. This is not just a opinion, it is a measurable fact that is a result of a joint comparison of numbers and ride comfort.

Check out our exclusive video from the Tickfaw 200 Poker Run and stand by for more performance data on these over the top performance catamarans.

We have more video coming from Tickfaw 200 as well, so stay tuned.

With how many mementos are still rolling in here at Powerboat Nation, you’d think Tickfaw 200 was just yesterday. We covered plenty of the weekend’s festivities before, but you guys couldn’t get enough. We don’t blame you: the sights, the food, the local quirks, the girls, and of course the boats were enough to leave everyone satisfied but still wanting more.

Luckily for us, Powerboat Nation fan Jared Holbrook was generous enough to share even more memories. He managed to photograph a variety of candid partygoers and a beautiful array of boats. Check out the slideshow below and relive Tickfaw one more time:

What can I say that I have not said before. The biggest, The best, The most fun, The most charming….Covering just over 200 miles of boating over two days with outstanding stops at fun venues with great food and charming gracious people. The Tickfaw 200 is something that can only be experienced to really understand just how significant it is.

How many boats? Well they sold over 340 hands and some boats did have more than one so the best guess is 400 boats because some of the boats didn’t buy any hands and there were performance boats everywhere.

Big powerful brand new Skaters to some old one off single engine performance boats and everything else in between.

The rock concert atmosphere in the Camp at Blood River Landing and the non stop action everywhere makes the TICKFAW 200 something that the only way you will know is if you attend. Next year you can count on some even bigger fun. I have a plan and I am going back with a fleet of PowerBoatNation Boats to ply the waters all around New Orleans, Lake Pontchartrain, and back up to the Blood River! This is really gonna be great!

Most Poker Runs around the country usually have numerous national name brand sponsors to help support the event and aid with the high costs of even production. The Tickfaw 200 is more of a locally supported event with very strong local sponsorship but not many national brands.

The exception to this is Legend Marine Group from Carrolloton, Texas, just outside Dallas. Legend Marine brought an entire entourage of Texas Powerboaters to the run with them. This fun loving group had an entire section of the Blood River Landing Camp set up fro themselves that was always referred to as Texas Row, with the exception of a couple coaches from Oklahoma the rest were exclusively TEXAS. Casey Freeman who runs Legend Marine, told us the Tickfaw 200 run has the highest concentration of Legend Marine customers outside of Texas and it is an absolutely must attend for the Mega PowerBoat Dealer.

Fittingly, as a CIGARETTE Dealer, The Legend Crew ran all over the 200 mile poker run in a 39 CIGARETTE GT with Triple 300 Mercury Verados which proved to be a very economical and fun boat to make the run in.

Even in the swamps of Louisiana Powerboat Nation can find a ways to bring you all new and exciting venues. Powerboat Nation was privileged to be able to partner with SunBuns owner Stephen Emmons through the support and help of fellow powerboater Nate Michael.

The success could only be measured as a huge success with a packed porch, packed bar, busted bathroom pipes and docks so full there was no more space for the boats that showed up late. Sunbuns gave away over 300 special event T Shirts with the PowerBoatNation logo on the front as well as additional swag from GoFast Threads and even more stuff from PowerBoatNation.

Food flowed, drink Spilled and the Friday start of the Tickfaw 200 was a celebrated success that we were very proud to be a part of. When you find yourself back boating in the area SunBuns is a must stop.

Thank you again to all of our Louisiana friends for the great support to PowerBoatNation!
