ORLANDO, FLORIDA (December 01, 2014) – Offshore Powerboat Grand Prix (OPGP) today announced a multimedia, multi-year agreement with Torque.TV, North America’s new online destination for motorsports and the high performance lifestyle, to air the Offshore Powerboat Grand Prix Series starting in 2015 on television and digital platforms.

“Offshore Powerboat racing is one of the most exciting and technically challenging forms of motorsport today,” said Roger Werner, Chairman and Founder of Torque “These incredible boats are capable of speeds over 200 miles per hour on open water. With helicopters, drones and a significant number of on-boat cameras, we expect that this series—and the state-of-the-art production qualities that come with it—will rekindle America’s fascination with this exciting sport.

As part of a multi-year agreement announced earlier this year between Torque.TV and CBS Sports Network, OPGP programming will air on CBS Sports Network in one-hour highlight shows weekdays in primetime or on weekend afternoons.

Internationally, the world’s most widely distributed weekly motorsports magazine show (weekly global reach 600+ million HH), Motorsport Mundial, will provide significant coverage of all OPGP events. This will be complimented by an aggressive international distribution program to maximize the global footprint of the OPGP Series.

“This is going to give much deserved, North American and worldwide exposure to the sport of offshore powerboat racing “ commented Jason Miller, General Manager of OPGP “ The racers who put their heart and soul into this sport are
going to reap the benefits of this exposure, reaching fans who can’t make the races, as well as new fans worldwide “

Offshore Powerboat Grand Prix was formed in 2014 with one goal – to carry on a 50-plus year tradition of showcasing the world’s best offshore powerboat racing, and raise the current state of the sport to new heights. For 2015, the series will consist of a five-race championship that is affiliated with the American Power Boat Association and Union Internationale Motonautique, utilizing the Offshore Powerboat Racing Association to run on-water and technical activities. Specific race dates and locations will be announced in the near future.
