Marc Granet to Drive Shadow Pirate at Key West World Finals
Marc Granet, who along with Scott Begovich piloted the Miss Geico race boat to numerous World Championships prior to the current team lineup, will drive Shadow Pirate/Nick’s Creative Marine with owner/throttleman Nick Scafidi, it was announced.
Scafidi has raced a number of different boats on the offshore circuit under the Nick’s Creative Marine banner, including a 30-foot Velocity in Production 3 class. But recently his focus has been on his 32’ Doug Wright, which he has been running with his son, Austin.
Scafidi scored an impressive second-place finish in Clearwater this season; last year, the team beat National Champion FJ Propellers to win the World Finals in Superboat Stock class. “Hopefully, Shadow Pirate can defend our World Championship from last year,” he told Powerboat Nation.
According to Scafidi, the collaboration came together very quickly. I’ve known Marc and Scotty for many years,” he says. “We’re from the same town and have been friends forever. The opportunity just arose, and all the planets and stars aligned, and it all worked out perfectly. I think that his experience on the course, combined with both of our experience in Superboat Stock class, is going to make for a good marriage.”
Scafidi will be at this week’s Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, displaying at the Nick’s Creative Marine booth at the Bahia Mar Hotel’s Tender Tent.
