THUNDERBOAT ROW MEDALLIONS BY BROWNIE
The THUNDERBOAT ROW MEDALLIONS, created by Allan “Brownie” Brown, a 17 year veteran of N.E. 188th Street, North Miami Beach, Fl., “Thunderboat Row”.
Don Aronow invented the high performance boat business on this street. The home of Formula, Donzi, Magnum, Cigarette, Cougar, Apache, Signature, Sea Hawk, Tempest, and a few others, Thunderboat Row became synonymous with speed on the water. Brownie was Aronow’s largest dealer for Formula Marine as General Manager of Challenger Marine, in North Miami. He then joined Aronow at Donzi Marine, having great success on the racing circuit with 28’ Donzis “Broad Jumper”, “Donzi Baby”, “Donzi Blue Devil”. Donzi was sold, and he went to Magnum, where he helped develop the famous Magnum 53 and the Magnum 45. Lured away from Magnum by British race boat builders Cougar Marine Ltd., he was President during a 4 year run of 33 consecutive race wins, national and world championships every year. Cougar moved back to England, and Brownie went to Cigarette as Director of Product Development, in charge of the development of the 35’ Café Racer, 38’ Top Gun, and designer of the 31’ Bullet, 31 Decathlon and the 21’. Thunderboat Row is only a memory now. It sort of died in a hail of bullets years ago.
