The very familiar 388 Skater known as the 2nd Pure Platinum and owned by Performance Powerboating superstar Bill Pyburn jr. was of course recently sold to make room for the Third edition Pure Platinum that we all expect to be unveiled at the Miami Boat Show in a few weeks.
This 388 Skater made a huge difference on the power boating scene, the boat has been everywhere and has made a real significant impact in performance pleasure boat world and as the new boat comes to fruition this boat is perfect for someone who knows what they want because the boat is ready to go! It has been there and done that and it is ready to just keep doing it.
I first met David Southern in 2009 at Lake of the Ozarks, where David enrolled in the Performance Boat School and I had the pleasure to pass on some driving and performance knowledge as he went through the program.
David went through a progression of boats including a 36 Skater and when the 2nd Pure Platinum became available he knew he had to have it. He tells us because the boat was proven and the set up was so thoroughly done he wouldn’t have to spend four years to get it to work.
Now David is looking to put his own custom touch on this powerboating icon and he took the time to chat with us and explain his dream.
