Fountain Creates a ‘Sportier’ 34′ Center Console
Fountain Powerboats of Washington, NC—part of the Iconic Marine Group—has modified its popular 34 CC center console fish boat to appeal to the sport-boat market. The same hull is now available as the 34 SC (Sport Console). Explains Fountain COO Jeff Harris: “It’s our effort to kind of bring a sport boat to a center console,” he says. “It’s got really striking upholstery and a whole new graphics package. It’s designed to be kind of a poker run boat.”
The first 34 SC out of the mold, shown here, is powered by twin Mercury Marine 400 Verados (top speed in the low 60s), but triple Verado 300 engine configurations are possible, or twin 450Rs, depending on what the customer desires. “You can have it powered to easily get it into the 70s,” Harris says.
The boat features an enclosed head/sink below the console, as well as SeaDek flooring (both under foot and on top of the T-Top, along with the Fountain logo). In addition, the rear seat is an entirely new seating concept from the 34 CC, with “proprietary” molded-in seats for three individuals. Likewise, the forward lounge seats directly in front of the center console have also been redesigned, and has additional storage beneath them, and the bow seating has also been lengthened and modified to make sitting in the bow more comfortable.
The 34 SC will be displayed by Big Thunder Marine at the Overland Park Boat Show in the Lake of the Ozarks Jan. 23-26, after which it will be showcased at the Miami Boat Show Feb. 13-17.
