OPA: #77 Done Deal and #518 RUFSTR Take Win in Englewood
The first race of the OPA World Finals in Englewood, FL, came to a close as two classes, Super Vee Light and Class 5, battled in the first of two days of racing.
In Super Vee Light, high-points holder #77 Done Deal—a 30’ Phantom with driver Mike Mironyk and throttleman Steve Papp—finished first after enjoying a considerable lead for the entire race. Whoa Mama maintained a strong second-place position until the final lap, when it broke down. That left Typhoon, a 30’ Extreme with Tom Crowley and Randy Schleus, in second place, and Tug It, with Brit Lilly and Kevin Smith, in third place.
In Class 5 racing, it was #518 RUFSTR taking the checkered flag for driver E.J. Salamone and throttleman Ken Salamone. In second place was a second Done Deal competitor, with Team Raven and Team Krizen rounding out third and fourth place. Class 5 features boats up to 30 feet in length, with a speed limit of 75 mph.
