KEY WEST: It’s Victory for the Victory Hulls!
After traveling halfway around the world to participate in the Super Boat International race season, the two Team Victory hulls grabbed first and second place, respectively, as Day 2 of racing came to an end with the Superboat Unlimited bout.
UAE-33 Team Victory, a 41’ Victory driven by Salem Ali Aladidi of Dubai and throttled by John Tomlinson, finished in first place after swapping places with their teammates. UAE-3 Team Victory, a 40’ Victory piloted by driver Steve Curtis (of Miss Geico fame) and Elsa Mohamed Abdul Rahman from Dubai on throttles, was initially in the lead, but dropped back to second place.
Team CRC/Spooled Up Racing, a 48’ MTI featuring owner/driver Mike DeFrees and throttleman Jay Muller, finished third. Huski Chocolate, a 54’ MTI owned and driven by Tim Trahan and throttled by Bruce Bullock, both of Texas, finished in fourth place.
Wake Effects, which finished first in Superboat Unlimited on Wednesday, suffered a mechanical issue early in the race and eventually dropped out.
Zabo Racing, a 42’ Victory driven by Ugur Isik and throttled by Miles Jennings, and Lucas Oil Silverhook, a 48’ Silverhook driven by Jay Johnson and throttled by Nigel Hook, finished fifth and sixth.
