Fast Powerboats has been a world dominated by men for years and now an incredibly courageous and ambitious  lady. Summer Richardson drives and throttles her 388 SKATER with 1800 HP Carson Brummett power.  Summer has worked her way up following in her fathers footsteps who is a a great inspiration and force in her life.  Powerboat Nation had the opportunity to chat with Shootout Queen Summer Richardson of Swoop Motorsports as she prepared to run her Dial 911 Skater all my herself in the shootout at LOTO.

Thanks to Travis and Summer Richardson for Providing on boat footage of Summer’s run.

PHOTOS FROM BEFORE:

When a center console flies by you at over one hundred miles per hour there is absolutely no shame in doing a double take.

This is exactly what Cigarette Racing Team achieved this year at LOTO when their Cigarette-AMG 41′ SD GT3 CC, driven by Myrick Coil from Performance Boat Center, ran a whopping 104 MPH on the last run of the day in the liquid-mile top-speed contest.  This isn’t just any CC it defines luxury and with the 1100 Twin Turbo Mercury Racing Engines the performance and drive-ability is unparalleled.

Skip Braver expects the boat to run even higher speeds if they push it, but was more than pleased with the results touting that they were able to achieve the perfect combination of reliability, pleasure, and performance.

“Earlier in the week the people at Performance Boat Center were taking full loads of people on it,” Skip Braver said.“They used it all week and most of the weekend. It’s a Cigarette. You buy and you use it. We built it to show that a fast can also be pleasurable.”

There are few boats that can carry 10+ people daily without any issues, then lay down an impossibly fast shootout run after dumping just a few passengers. The GT3 can do just that, and make it look good!

DCB’s loyal customers and fans made their way to LOTO last weekend and put up some impressive numbers during the infamous Shootout! With everyone hitting speeds of around 150 MPH or more, DCB makes it clear that performance is everything.

Bigger than the speed numbers, DCB’s strong presence on the dock with the incredibly impressive display of craftsmanship once again won over hundreds of fans.  No matter where you go, the style, aesthetics, and visible quality of DCB takes them into a completely different class of powerboating perfection. Team DCB’s performance during the entirety of the event shows just how well the team continues to operate and produce top-of-the-line performance crafts. There is nothing on the water like a DCB.

Check out the Shootout speeds below!

Just when it seems like the only thing hot or shaking in the California summer could be an out of control fire or earth quake, out of nowhere pops up an unsanctioned gathering of what this valley hasn’t seen in decades, hot boats! It was a real deal, blown and injected drag boats race, where you could find numerous hot boats thundering down a timed, professionally laid out course in the heart of the Silicon Valley. There has never been something so fantastically out of place in Silicon Valley. This is the land of electric vehicles, home to Tesla, latte’s and the land of fruits and nuts, not alcohol belching fire puffing drag boats.

In the midst of some of California’s priciest real estate with front yards of vineyards a mere 3 miles from the bustling hwy 101 lies a little reservoir that hasn’t seen a boat run faster than 15 MPH for over 30+ years. It seems only fitting to our industry that someone found a loop hole and pulled off access to the reservoirs where they were able to launch about 40,000HP worth of bad-to-the-bone drag boat. On a warm, beautiful Saturday just a mountain range from the ocean, these guys light this place up!

PBN was kindly hosted by Vince of RPM’s out of Burlingame, CA, and he provided cart blanche access to all of the action. We were able to capture a ton of great video and wanted to share what could be one of the most miraculous stunts pulled off in California since a Hollywood block buster.

With most Bay Area boating events shut down and the California drag boat scene seemingly pummeled to death, it was an amazing day to see right over the hill of Apple’s campus and Googles head quarters there were hard core drag boats making wide open 1000ft passes.

Just goes to show you there are still miracles in this world…

By now all of the news from the 2016 Lake of the Ozarks shootout has pretty much been run out.  American Ethanol was able to keep their 217 MPH run to be crowned the winner.  Garth Tagge and Jim Melley ran their 36 SKATER to an incredible 194 MPH, CIGARETTE RACING’S Cigarette-AMG 41′ SD GT3 Center Console ran 104 and SUNSATIONS 32 CCX ran 88 mph both boats setting records.  The DCB lineup once again brought in some really impressive runs with happy customers running their own boats in the shootout.

The weekend also brought us great tragedy with the loss of Richie Prince and Brad Dunphy from a boating accident Friday Afternoon.  Our thoughts and prayers remain with their family and friends.

With all the highs and lows of 2016, LOTO overall remains a spectacular powerboating destination and event.  I don’t believe you can find any other place in the world that offers so much for powerboaters.  Easy access to boat ramps, parking, waterfront bars and restaurants, world class service facilities, hotels and waterfront accommodations all over the lake.  The Lake of the Ozarks is truly remarkable and every year it seems to continue to get bigger and better.

Powerboat Nation extends a gracious thank you to our hosts at Performance Boat Center for providing incredible support and to John Woodruff and Jim Lee for the preferred on the water conveyances!
