It took the Erie County Sheriff’s Marine Unit, the Fire Department, the Buffalo Police, and the Coast Guard all working together to rescue six people from Buffalo’s waterfront Monday morning.
At about 2:00 a.m. the call came in that a boat had rammed into the breakwall north of the Small Boat Harbor. Early reports stated that there were believed to be several people in the water but after slowly approaching the boat the Coast Guard discovered that there were five people still on board the stranded craft.
“The operator of the vessel that actually hit the break wall had a severe head injury. So he was confused as to how many people were actually on the boat,” Michael Tuberdyke, a Buffalo Fire Division Chief, said.
After learning of the possibility that there might be one boater still missing, the Coast Guard was able to find him sitting on the actual breakwall after firing off an illumination flare.
“We fired off an illumination flare into the sky. Once we fired that off, we were able to light up the area where the initial impact of the boat was on the break wall. We were able to find the person, sitting on the breakwall,” Jeremy Bossinger of U.S. Coast Guard said.
Five of the six people on board the craft were taken to the hospital for serious injuries ranging from lacerations to possible broken bones.
Cody Pudlewski, 21, has been charged with BWI and released on tickets.
Six is the lucky number. Now, for six years running, Skaterfest continues to be the home of the largest gathering Skater Powerboats in the world! What makes it even more unique is that the unparalleled event is hosted by not a company or manufacturer, but by a true Skater enthusiast and owner, Ron Szolack. With a passion for owning and selling anything Skater, he’s made it his mission to provide a place for everyone that shares his passion to come and have a rip roarin’ time out on the water as well as his widely popular nightclub. In just a few days we can expect another fantastic turnout of many Skaters to head to Lake St. Clair, Michigan to show their support for each other and the SKATER NATION!
Skater owners are a unique group who really pride themselves on how well their boats perform on the water. From 24 feet to over 50 feet, if you own a SKATER you are known immediately to be a performance boat aficionado who bought a boat for pure performance over anything else. Are you part of the Skater Nation?
The 2016 Old Hickory Poker Run hosted by the Tennessee Powerboat Club was another HUGE success! How many boats? Who really knows 200+ I am not sure it matters because what was really evident was the fact that it didn’t matter if you were there in a flat bottom john boat or a million dollar Skater….You belonged and the overwhelming hospitality of everyone was infectious.
Powerboat Nation was privileged to be hosted onboard “War Party” a beautiful 39 CIGARETTE GTS owned by our great friend Bubba, and along with Co Captain Stan, both of these guys were fantastic and we were honored to be invited aboard.
This years event did mark the significant sense of loss as many of the participants wore commemorative T shirts emblazoned with the Saddle Up logo to remember Anthony and Tammy Reece and raise money for their memorial fund. CLICK HERE: Anthony and Tammy Reece Memorial Fund This fund was established by Chad Collier who chairs and organizes the Old Hickory Fun Run. Thousands of dollars were raised for all the event charities as well as money for the memorial fund.
Nashville brings a unique and different experience to powerboating and from the event party downtown on Broadway, to the multiple rafts ups, and the final night auction no one could say they didn’t have fun. Rain? Whatever, its only water and it didn’t make one bit of difference other than we got to cruise slow, blast the stereo and have a great time with great friends!

The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office has now confirmed that there were a total of three people on board the 1989 Formula 223LS that was ran over by a 2011 Mastercraft Saturday night.
According to the police there were a total of five people on board the Mastercraft during the collision as the southbound Mastercraft rammed and demolished the presumed stationary/northbound Formula. All five people on board the offending craft were taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, yet none of the three passengers aboard the Formula have been recovered. At this point it is safe to assume that the three missing persons have drowned.
