When we are not on the road traveling the nation to support boating events we are actively participating in them with our boat or others. As Powerboat Nation we support everything from washing the hauler, wrenching on engines, working on set up and writing editorial or capturing the latest in video for you is just part of why we go to these events and participate. No other online or print media group has our level of commitment and expertise in the world of powerboating. Well, this time we’re out laying down some big numbers for fun! At last weekends Texas Outlaw Challenge Shootout our very own Brad Schoenwald knocked down the top spot in the Cat over 32 ft. Class in a 426 Skater at 161MPH. This particular boat is being represented by Chris Bradley for Skater Powerboats and is currently for sale!

Brad said the boat ran great for the water conditions presented and there is more speed in the boat that will come from a prop change. Skater Powerboats dominated the Texas Outlaw Challenge on the water, see the results below.

The Texas Outlaw Challenge Poker Run is starting to form up and the big boats are arriving. The weather looks to be clearing and we’re on the ground and ready to provide you with the finest media and news coverage of the Texas Outlaw Challenge. Stay tuned for more pictures and video!

Let’s face it, we know that you want to see what life feels like at some of the super events around the country. We know that can’t be delivered through words alone. We know if a picture is worth a thousand words then video must be worth a zillion. So for more times than we can count thus far, we will have feet on the ground bringing you what only Powerboat Nation does – that’s real live video coverage of all that makes the Texas Outlaw Challenge the shining star of the sport. So hold on tight, storm or no storm we’ve got our Powerboat Nation Tractor Trailer en route to the Lone Star State to not only cover the happenings but be part of all that’s happening in Texas.

From the industry’s high caliber arsenal of fast boats to the crews that are hotter than the Texas summer, we will be bringing you more coverage than anywhere. Besides being a premier community forum we’re making and building excitement in the powerboating world. We’re the largest active participating power boating community there is. We’re not interested in just recapping it. So when we get the call saying “WE WANT WHAT POWERBOAT NATION BRINGS!” by becoming part of one of of the biggest events of the season in the Texas Outlaw Challenge, we’re not only honored. We know that no one can bring the level of involvement we bring.

So we’re grabbing our friends and our fans to bring the most exclusive 53′ Stage and display (party vehicle) and bringing some party to the party. So it’s official! We’re hoping that tropical storm Bill will clear out just in time for us and the Powerboat Nation Tractor Trailer to arrive right on time for this great event in Kemah TX where we will be the Main Stage for all the weekends main events.

Miss Powerboat Nation Brittany will also be rounding up all the Powerboat Nation Members and Fans for pictures and putting stickers on your boats.

The Texas Outlaw Challenge is a fantastic powerboat event with so much going on it is hard to describe. Powerboat Nation will bring you all the excitement, pictures and video live throughout the week. We will also be participating in the shootout and poker run with the 426 Skater with Chris Bradley.

No other boating website brings you this level of support and excitement with the Powerboat Nation Tractor Trailers, Girls and the very best video and picture content online. You can count on some TEXAS SIZED fun at Kenny Armstrong’s house and a incredible weekend for everyone! See you all in Texas!

This coming weekend there are a bunch of boating events taking place.  While many of us will be at the Texas Outlaw Challenge, there is a lot of boating activity taking place elsewhere around the country.

The Cigarette Owners Rendezvous will be taking place at the Lake of the Ozarks hosted by Performance Boat Center. The Cigarette Rendezvous is sure to be a huge success with so many Cigarettes on the lake and they could not have a better facility or hosts than the team at Performance Boat Center.

At Lake Cumberland, the Cumberland Thunder Run kicks off another super cool event that brings a bunch a boats from the local area.  Powerboat Nation apparel provider Justin Lucas of Go-Fast Threads is one of the tireless enthusiasts who puts on this event every year and is dedicated to making sure everyone has a fun and safe weekend.

With all this going on we may be missing even more.  The entire team at Powerboat Nation only wishes we could attend each of these but we know we will have great representation from all or our powerboating fans and enthusiasts at each one! Let us know where you’ll be headed and say hello if you see us!

The Texas Offshore Performance Powerboat Squadron (TOPPS) held their annual poker run last weekend in Clear Lake, Texas.  This is the 30th anniversary of the organization, which boasts over 100 active boating members.  55 boats and over 300 people participated in the run which raises funds for local water-based charity organizations.  The Calcutta auction generated over $34,000 on Friday night, which included a few participants having some “friendly” bidding wars, running up the total.

TOPPS was formed in 1985 by a group of boating enthusiasts that had a passion for speed on the water.  Some notable pioneer members include Red Adair, Curtis Morris, Bill Westberry, Curt Harbor, and Rodney Rudell.  TOPPS was also very instrumental in organizing and staffing many national offshore races, including race sites in Galveston, Corpus Christi, South Padre Island, Biloxi, New Orleans, and Key West.

This year’s poker run course featured stops in Seabrook, League City, Galveston, and San Leon all in and around the Clear Lake/Galveston Bay area.  A lunch stop at the Galveston Yacht Basin boasted a pool party for everyone to cool off from the hot, but beautiful, Texas weather.

Poker run participants even come from out of town to join in on the fun.  A few folks bring their boats down for the run and leave them, since the Texas Outlaw Challenge is only 2 weeks away.  It allows them to get in a bit more boating before the upcoming event.  For more information about the TOPPS organization, visit www.toppsclearlake.com.

Florida Powerboat Club‘s six-day Poker Run is coming up and we’re more than stoked to get back to the Panhandle’s white sandy beaches and cruise-happy protected waterways of the Emerald Coast. You can expect all the high quality festivities FPC is known for, but it’s not just going to be your standard fare of fun on the water. You can enjoy parties by night, the boardwalk, Mardi Gras parades, the Coyote Ugly and more:

The Luau Girls and Miss Boat Week contest certainly don’t hurt either.. (hint hint guys, time to flaunt your boat’s bling if you got it.)

Fun and poker runs aren’t the only things at stake: bring your best game face because a Ford F150 and 2015 Harley Davidson Streetglide are on the line for prizes. In addition, all money raised goes towards the Emerald Coast Foundation, a non-profit charity that invests into the future of Florida’s children. So get ready for 125 miles and six days of fun. Did we mention there’s a complimentary bar? We wish it was August already..

The Florida Powerboat Club Poker Run spans from August 18th-23rd. Registration available here.

The Jacksonville River Rally Poker Run was another huge success for 2015. With over $16,900. raised for Camp Amigo event organizer Bill Pyburn, Sr. was very happy. Grinning ear to ear at the awards ceremony he reminded me of how relaxed and fun this event is and will continue to be. With about 50 boats in attendance the kids at Camp Amigo who struggle with recovery from severe burns will benefit from the generosity of the performance powerboating community. Chris Bradly was first to ante up a $5,000 contribution which was quickly matched by Bill Pyburn Jr and followed by Kelly Sills who gave $6,900. Those generous contributions plus the other money raised will bring some fun and comfort to some deserving children.

The Team from PowerBoatNation had a great time. Thanks to Chris and Angela Bradley we had a beautiful 426 Skater with Mercury Racing 1350 power to enjoy the run. Friday’s raft up was a blast and brought a great group together. We were able to run upfront at the start of the run and followed right behind Bill Pyburn Jr’s. 388 Skater with Goodwin Competition Power right up to the first card stop.

The entire event was a great time and Powerboat Nation was everywhere. Miss PowerBoat Nation Brittany was co-captain on her 42 Outer-limits and ran all over on the PBN cooler racing everyone who would dare challenge her.

The Jacksonville Poker Run remains one of my all time favorite runs as the St. John River and local hospitality of the Pyburn family make it something very special. Bill Jr. opened his home to everyone and once again John Woodruff along with his great gal Nancy pulled out all the stops – giving fun rides on the Windship Long Ranger Helicopter, landing on the special Helo Pad extension from Bill’s dock walk, just making spectacular landings again and again.

We had such a great time and a special thanks goes out to all the great supporters of Powerboat Nation who wore the brand proudly and our team on the ground: Brittany, my daughter Lauren Nicole, and PBN Brand Ambassador Shane Mcfall.

Check out our choice pictures below and view ALL THE PHOTOS HERE!

DCB has been long known for building high quality custom catamarans and this high quality standard has brought on a well deserve following of extremely loyal hard core powerboat owners who wear the DCB brand with big pride.

The combination of a high quality product backed by a team of builders who are intimately close to every build that goes out the door at the factory makes for a special bond between the product and the customers who buy the product.

For DCB this is not just a cool brand,  they build a product that deserves every accolade received because the product doesn’t just look perfect it performs perfectly.  Long time DCB Team Member Tony Chiaramonte tells us something about the DCB brand and why the DCB owners are so steadfast and loyal to the brand.

Jeff at DCB let us know today that the M35 “Lickity Split” took to the water for initial testing before being delivered to the customer. Jeff’s summary of the outing was upbeat: “Tony and Dave ran it up to 165mph @ 6500rpms (on limiters) with a 39” propeller at Lake Elsinor during the initial water test and shakedown. Everything ran great, and we hope to get the larger 41” propellers before the formal delivery to the customer next week at Lake Havasu.” We at PBN look forward to seeing this awesome DCB at many poker runs in the future.

When you are stuck at a Poker Run raft up and are wearing the wrong color bikini it can be a little bit stressful for some of the girls who adorn the boats.

But when you are the right hand woman to Mr. John Woodruff those things can become quickly overcome with a simple phone call.

Being an expert pilot and having a Bell Long Ranger can make certain difficult things in life become much simpler.

In addition to flying photo coverage for the Poker Run, John was kind enough to make numerous joy ride flights for many of us.

Powerboat Nation especially thanks John for allowing us to fly the Powerboat Nation colors on his beautiful helicopter. Check the video below to see them in action:

DCB fires up Lickity Split! This M35 from West Coast Catamaran builder DCB is in the final stages of completion. Just yesterday the Mercury Racing 1350’s were fired up on the hose at the shop and sounded great!

Unlike most DCB’s which receive a gel coat finish, this beautiful boat received a custom paint job and was painted by Mark Morris and his team at Visual Imagination. As always with Mark and his crew, it came out greater than expected. This is the very first DCB M35 to painted rather than gel coated.

Look for more and more from DCB as these incredible builds just keep getting better and better.
